Facebook operating system – See you soon

Facebook operating system : Facebook has grown big. So big that it has planning to take on the might of Google. Yes, Facebook has started the development of an operating system to minimize the dependency it has on Google-owned Android.

According to Andrew Bosworth, Head of Hardware Facebook, “We really want to make sure the next generation has space for us. We don’t think we can trust the marketplace or competitors to ensure that’s the case. And so we’re going to do it ourselves.”

Although the news is confirmed, but there is no confirmation on when this platform will be rolled out to the public.

The project has been assigned to Mark Lucovsky, who has previously led the Windows NT operating system development team at Microsoft sucessfully. Interestingly, this is not the first time FB is venturing into this area, as per reports, earlier in 2013 too FB tried their hands with their own version of the operating system.

More importantly, Facebook will continue the development of existing mobile apps for both android and iOS. The plan which we believe is that FB wants to come up with their own version of eco system just like Google and apple have. They are moving ahead to being called just a social networking site.
